"We know we must become more knowledge focussed but how can we learn about recognising and developing our intangibles?"
The answer is TangoNet®, a very powerful and interactive strategic planning and learning tool that's been developed by Dr Karl-Erik Sveiby to address this dilemma. It is acknowledged as a unique business simulation and has received the Macromedia e-learning Innovation Award for best Corporate/Government training application.
TangoNet is the highly competitive electronic version of the world renowned classroom Tango® and can be used either as a standalone program or as an ongoing learning and strategy development tool after classroom Tango.
It encourages participants to address the issues and challenges involved in running a complex business from a knowledge perspective by focussing on:
- Developing a knowledge focussed business plan, strategic targets and objectives and day to day operational issues
- Recruit, develop and retain the 'right' people for the business strategy
- Experience the effect of matching or mis-matching staff on client's projects
- Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) by using a balanced scorecard type approach with Sveiby's Intangible Asset Monitor - IAM®.
- Clearly understand the issues and differences between cash flow and profitability and their effect on investments in R&D and innovation.
The participants work in teams and adopt roles of sales/marketing, finance, project planning and HR. They compete against the 'computer' andor against other teams in a classroom environment.
They create and implement a strategic vision which is pursued over several years whilst observing and adapting to market forces and competitive activities.
KPI's for monitoring and steering the company to success are determined using the Intangible Assets Monitor methodology (a balanced scorecard that includes tangible and intangible trackers).
The purpose of the program is primarily to establish how a 'Knowledge Focused Approach' supports the business strategy but also discovering how the value of intangible assets enhances the overall value of the organisation.
