As someone interested in gaining a better understanding of the hidden dynamics of complex and often counter-intuitive situations, I enjoy the excitement of using advanced tools and techniques to help to build a better cooperative understanding of external events eg in the financial markets, and internal practices such as managing innovation, growing the top line, or controlling risk.

My work as a business consultant falls into two main areas. With large multi-nationals, I am asked to review (or lead) large complex international sales and development projects in order to increase revenue and reduce risk. With start-ups and early stage companies I am used as an advisor to the board on building robust strategies, in navigating the risks and in seizing the opportunities they can access. I thus act in a complementary fashion to those of my colleagues in EKG whose focus is on BPO, BPM and successful change programmes.

In the hierarchy that starts with data and moves through information and knowledge to understanding, my focus is on using understanding to gain the best interpretation of what is really going on in order to help my clients make the optimal long term decisions. Weak signals, peripheral vision, systems thinking, cultural issues and network dynamics are all important aspects of this approach which complement the wide range of tools available from other EKG practitioners.

If your organisation is concerned about end to end issues such as operational risk, innovation, or growing the top line and needs to find ways to overcome sub-optimal silo based approaches, then I would be interested in exploring whether I have something to contribute.
